Inspired by the beauty of my home town.
ARKLOW
1
The sun rises so gracefully,
among the Wicklow hills
and sends it's golden rays so lovingly
to a place to me so dear,
to a little town on the Avoca river
where my heart and soul abide
to my beloved Arklow so lost and lonely
in time.
2
My heart it feels so heavy when
my mind drifts back in time,
to all those wonderful memories and happiness
that was mine
to a girl with golden hair, her smile
I can see it now
I remember when we walked together around
old Arklow town
3
A fishing boat steams through the twin
piers on its way out to sea.
I can see the Nineteen Arches, the river walk so clean!
The old Ormond Castle with its long history
of woes
looks on as the lazy Avoca river
flows gently down below
4
One day I'll return to my
Avoca rivers shore.
Never to leave my hometown, I'll roam
again no more
But until then, I must remain an emigrant
in this heathen land
and dream of my beloved Arklow
among Wicklows hills and glens.
